World-renowned scientists to speak at nano meet in City

​The 8th edition of the nanoscience and nanotechnology conference will be held from March 3 to 5 here in the City.

Prof C N R Rao, Chairman, Karnataka’s Vision Group on Nanotechnology, unveiled the ‘Bangalore India Nano 2016’ event spectrum on Monday. The theme of the meet will be ‘Nano Horizons’. The conference will address the latest trends in nanotechnology focusing on healthcare, clean water, energy, manufacturing and other industry sectors.

More than 60 speakers, 500 delegates and 45 exhibitors from industry, academia and research backgrounds are expected to attend the event. Representatives from nine countries, including UK, USA, Germany, Canada, Korea, Bulgaria, France, Poland and Singapore will take part in the  The event will also feature presentations by 120 researchers and graduate students from leading institutes across India. 

The Nano for the Young programme will be another highlight of the conference, which will see over 400 undergraduate students. The programme aims to popularise nanoscience among students. Nano Sparks, another new feature of the event, will showcase emerging business ideas by start-ups and young researchers.

V Manjula, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, BT and S&T, Prof A K Sood, Dept of Physics, Indian Institute of Science (IISC), were present on the occasion. This event will be organised by the Department of IT, BT, S&T, the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre of Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Vision group on Nanotechnology and MM Active Sci Tech Communications. The following awards will be given out at event: Nano Excellence Awards including the prestigious Prof C N R Rao Bangalore India Nano Science Award; Bangalore India Nano Innovation Award; Malhotra Weikfield Foundation Nano Science Fellowship Awards; Best Poster Awards and Best Exhibitor Awards.
