Kuwait's Amb. to Australia meets with local senior officials

KUWAIT Aug 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Australia Najib Abdulrahman Al-Bader held a series of bilateral meetings with a number of Queensland's local officials in order to enhance bilateral ties between both nations.
He met with Speaker of the Queensland Parliament Peter Wellington, Chief Justice Catherine Holmes, as well as Councilor Angela Owen, Minister of Labor and Industry, and head of the opposition, as they tackled means of enhancing and developing cooperation between Kuwait and Queensland state.
During the diplomat's official visit to the state, he discussed a number of issues of common interest, inviting Kuwaiti investors to initiate commercial exchange with Queensland to benefit from the attractive economic environment.
Al-Bader also met with officials in charge of commerce, international cooperation, investments, education and mining, as well as Australia-Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI).
Al-Bader stressed the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation in all domains, especially in the fields of mining, natural gas, energy, agriculture, and tourism.
He also met later Presidents of universities in which Kuwaiti students are enrolled, tackling means of enhancing partnership between the academic and research institutions in Kuwait and Queensland in the field of education and medical researches, innovation and Nanotechnology.
The Kuwaiti diplomat met later with Kuwaiti students studying in nine Australian states and became acquainted with their needs.
Meanwhile, Al-Bader met with the General Governor of Queensland Paul de Jersey, discussing with him issues of common interest, especially means of boosting bilateral relations.
He conveyed to De Jersy greetings and appreciation of the Kuwaiti political leadership and its keenness to bolster ties between both nations.
Kuwait is among 20 vital commercial partners to Australia as a number of Kuwaiti investments are present in Queensland.
Queensland is the second-largest and third-most-populous state in the Commonwealth of Australia. Situated in the north-east of the country, it is bordered by the Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales to the west, south-west and south respectively.
