German varsity announces course with focus on 'Make in India'
NEW DELHI: Germany's Steinbeis University has announced an MS degree in Global Technology Management Asia. It is a specially designed programme by the Berlin-based university to help build the technology framework for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' initiative.
The programme will be managed by Steinbeis Global Institute Tübingen (SGIT), Germany in an exclusive collaboration with Ivory Education, an entity dedicated towards bridging the gap between employment and education.

Under this collaboration, Ivory Education will be working towards the success of the programme, including arranging associations with other universities, governments, private institutions. It will also help in providing technological assistance, student management and marketing.
The programme is the first-ever Master's Degree in Global Technology Management with modern didactics to provide the strategic framework for the interface of technology and management and to put it into practice.
In the framework of the job-integrated study course, a concrete technology project will be transferred under the programme in the area of nanotechnology, medicine, biotechnology, IT, construction, etc.
Professor Bertram Lohmüller, Director, SGIT and programme director, said, "Make in India is an initiative that has a potential to transform India's place in global economy. This programme is our humble effort to help the professionals and companies develop expertise in Global Technology Management."

"India's leadership in IT is admired throughout the world. This will also help in developing technological expertise across sectors that Indian companies will benefit from. We have also extended a minimum possible fee for the programme," he said.
The two-year programme is offered in English which will lead to a German Master's degree. Those who are interested in working in Germany can also take advantage of liberal visa policy for high-end employees.
Kapil Rampal, managing director, Ivory Education, said, "We have worked with SGIT for the past three years to develop the programme. The participants can get the knowledge and expertise in Global Technology Management with a German Master's degree without having to quit jobs. The "stay requirement" in Germany to complete the programme has been kept minimal."
