the event data recorders. Um, they're in pretty much every car that's on the road now. They've They're still not required by the federal government. But there are regulations that if you have them, you have to record certain things. Um, that happened in a crash like speed and whether the seat belts are fastened. Whether the airbags deployed, they also record like lateral acceleration and for forward, backward acceleration. Um, and those air very helpful Thio investigators. When they're when they're looking into crashes, they could make mathematical calculations based on a lot of this information and determine you know how many times the vehicle rolled over at what force it rolled over. There's all kinds of different things, and they'll be using that. And in this Tiger Woods case, you know, to try to make the determinations, they'll they'll know whether he stepped on the brake, whether he still had his foot on the accelerator and when he took it off. How far before impact those kinds of things. He was driving a courtesy car for the golf tournament from Genesis, which is Hyundai's luxury brand, and it's a 2021 model. It's likely to have a very advanced version of this, and that's where it gets a little crazy. Um, newer vehicles like this one have systems on them that automatically break for objects that are in the way. They have radar. They have cameras, some of them even store pictures before a crash. And we don't know Genesis won't tell us exactly what the, um, the recorder in this SUV stored. But the experts that I talked to are saying that it's likely that it has a lot mawr information than the the early versions of these black boxes. So there's a lot there and a lot for investigators to look at its with this Hyundai. It has a kind of a unique feature. Ah, center airbag that would come out between the driver and the passenger. And it's very helpful in a rollover crash because it would prevent the driver from hitting the center console or something else in the vehicle. It would kind of shield them from that, and it would tell you whether that went off. Um, it also tells you lateral acceleration. They can calculate how many times the vehicle will roll because, you know, using that

Woods was moved Thursday to another Los Angeles hospital after undergoing surgery to his right leg after being badly injured in a car crash.

Harbor-UCLA Medical Center said Woods was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for “continuing orthopedic care and recovery."

On his Twitter account, a statement released Friday said he received follow-up procedures at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center that morning, which were successful, and he's now "recovering and in good spirits."

“On behalf of our staff, it was an honor to provide orthopedic trauma care to one of our generation’s greatest athletes," Dr. Anish Mahajan, Harbor-UCLA's chief medical officer, previously said in a statement.

Woods was hurt Tuesday when a 2021 Genesis SUV he was driving on a downhill stretch of road struck a raised median in a coastal Los Angeles suburb, crossed into oncoming lanes and flipped several times.

Additional injuries to the bones in the foot and ankle required screws and pins, Mahajan said in the statement released on Woods’ Twitter account late Tuesday night.

Woods was wearing a seatbelt and there wasn't any evidence that he was impaired by drugs or alcohol, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said after the crash.

However, the crash investigation continues.
