University of Queensland restarts vaccine trials after HIV false positives

Almost two years after abandoning its COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials thanks to false positive HIV test results, the University of Queensland has re-engineered its “clamp” technology and will start new trials.

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI) will fund the so-called “proof-of-concept” human trial, providing up to $8.5 million. This follows the Queensland government providing $10 million to help the university redesign its vaccine.
