Mobility Tracking

During the reporting period, DTM has released Event Tracking updates and a focus report based on round 2 findings. The team has increased its coverage, accessing 57 counties, 262 payams in nine states for round 3 (up from 46 counties, 225 payams in eight states for round 2). The team is processing collected data for a publication in the forthcoming reporting period.

Flow Monitoring

DTM fosters a better understanding of South Sudanese migration flows to inform response by surveying travelling individuals/households on a daily basis at key transit hubs located in-country, along South Sudan’s borders, and at the gates of Protection of Civilian and collective sites. In Q3,
DTM collected Flow Monitoring data in four locations in Uganda bordering South Sudan, the Abyei Region and set up two points at transportation hubs in Wau Town (WBEG). A total of 14,893 households were interviewed representing 27,186 individuals.

Registration

IOM DTM is enabling direct access to humanitarian support through biometric registration for a total of 723,274 individuals (56% female; 61% under 18) who are currently recorded in its database.
In Q3, DTM worked in 28 locations across Unity, Jonglei, Central Equatoria, Western Bahr el Ghazal and Upper Nile State, registering a total of 26,182 individuals and undertaking beneficiary authentication, card replacements and other database related maintenance activities for 99,241 individual cases. Of these, two-thirds (67%) were processed to be identified as beneficiaries for targeted programmes, notably WFP food distributions under a new joint project enabling more efficient resource allocation. Additionally, individuals were temporarily registered (29%), i.e. “fixed” in preparation for full registration and card issuance in Juba PoC sites 1 and 3.
